Let’s face it: life can be overwhelming, and our mental well-being sometimes takes a backseat in the hustle and bustle. But what if I told you there’s a superpower you can tap into that doesn’t require a cape or magical spells? Enter mindfulness meditation—your new best friend for mental well-being (See Joshua 1:8).

    In this blog post, we’re diving into how mindfulness meditation can transform your mental health, especially tailored for the amazing women out there who are balancing a million things while trying to maintain their sanity.     1. Find Your Practice in the Present…

    Pick a quiet spot where you won’t be interrupted—your living room, a cozy corner, or even a serene park if you’re feeling adventurous. It doesn’t have to be a fancy space; just somewhere you feel comfortable.

    2. Get Comfy

    Sit or lie down in a position that feels good to you. You don’t need to sit cross-legged on the floor unless you’re into that sort of thing. The goal is to be relaxed and at ease.

    3. Focus on Your Breath

    Take a few deep breaths, and then let your breathing return to its natural rhythm. Pay attention to the sensation of each breath—the rise and fall of your chest, the air entering and leaving your nostrils. If your mind starts to wander (and it will), gently bring your focus back to your breath.

    4. Observe Without Judgment

    As you meditate, thoughts, feelings, and sensations will pop up. That’s totally normal. Just observe them without getting caught up in them. Imagine you’re watching clouds drift by in the sky—acknowledge their presence, but don’t let them weigh you down.  Try to imagine God’s love for you.  When thoughts are opposite God’s Word, cast them down (2 Corinthians 10:4-5).  Now is the time to gaze at Jesus’ face.

    5. Start Small

    Begin with just 5 minutes a day and gradually increase the time as you become more comfortable. It’s like exercising; start with a light workout and work your way up to more intense sessions.

    Even though mindfulness meditation is super beneficial, it’s not always a walk in the park. Here are some common challenges and tips to overcome them:

    Words stating Financial Success Strategies laying in a pool of money with swimming goggles.First Things First: Don’t we all want to be financially successful?  Here are a few tips to get us on the Path to Success with money, honey.  First things first, these tips are in order.  Talking about tips and orders are making me hungry – lol!  Tithing, budgeting, saving, and investing are all actions we can take to be financially successful.

    Embrace the Art of Tithing: Don’t worry, it’s not as scary as it sounds! If you can’t tithe right away, start slowly.  Malachi 3, commands us to tithe.  Tithing means setting aside 10% of your income for your local church. It’s like paying it forward with your cash, ensuring that good vibes (and hopefully good returns) come your way. Plus, it’s a tax write-off sometimes—bonus!  When we honor God, He honors us (1 Samuel 30:10).

    Get Your Budget On Point: First things first, you gotta know where your money’s coming from and where it’s going. Sit down with your bank statements and maybe a strong cup of coffee (or three) and figure out your monthly ins and outs. This is your chance to see where you can cut back on those late-night pizza deliveries and redirect that dough to more important stuff—like your future yacht fund. (Punny!!)

    Invest Wisely (and No, Not Just in Lottery Tickets): Now, we’re not saying you can’t throw a few bucks at scratch-offs for fun, but real investing means putting your money to work. Think stocks, bonds, mutual funds—stuff that grows over time like a well-tended garden. Start small if you need to, but always keep an eye on the long game. Compound interest is your new best friend.  Investing in a home may be the best investment we can make.

    Save Like Your Future Self Depends on It (Spoiler: It Does): Building a safety net isn’t just for squirrels. It’s for you, too! Aim to stash away at least 10-20% of your income into a rainy day fund. Emergency car repairs? Covered. Spontaneous trip to Bali? Maybe not on that fund alone, but hey, it’s a start. Automate your savings if possible, so you’re not tempted to dip into it for that new gaming console.

    Remember, financial success isn’t about being Scrooge McDuck swimming in a pool of gold coins (though that’d be kinda cool). It’s about balancing your money mojo with smart choices, giving back where you can, and planning for the future like a boss.     Sweet dreams, sleeping well. Don’t we all long to sleep deeply?

    As a teen girl at 14, I began to pray over my sleep. I was in constant fear. The fear hindered my sleep. I had dabbled in the occult. After giving my life to Jesus, I still had awful nightmares. It took months to get my rest back. (If God did it for me, He will do it for you)!

    My sister and I began to recite Psalm 91 nightly before going to bed. I encourage you to memorize Psalm 91. It is a powerful passage for safety.

    Other verses I stand on before sleeping are:
    Psalm 4:8: “In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety.”

    Proverbs 3:24: “When you lie down, you will not be afraid; when you lie down, your sleep will be sweet.”

    Psalm 127:2: “In vain you rise early and stay up late, toiling for food to eat— for he grants sleep to those he loves.”

    Matthew 11:28: “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”

    I like to say these aloud and pray them before going to bed.

    Anytime there is fear, I stand on Psalm 91 before sleeping. Take authority over the devil. Cast him out of your house, your dreams, and your sleep. Welcome the Holy Spirit to minister to you as you sleep (Psalm 77:6).

    Favorite Sleep Routine

    Woman sleeping.  Favorite Sleep RoutineSleep routines help us achieve optimum rest.  I wanted to take a moment and share my favorite sleep routine with you.

    When the planets align just right, and my kids are self reliant (a girl can dream, right?)… I can fulfill this routine.  It doesn’t happen every single night, but this is my goal.

    Shut It Down

    First, for a good night’s sleep, I turn off my electronic devices two hours before I go to sleep.  For those two hours, I try to stretch, have some great talks with family members, and prepare for the day ahead.

    Bore Me

    Secondly, I try to read a boring book.  Most self help books fit the bill.  I want to relax and not get over stimulated.

    Wash On, Wash Off

    Thirdly, I shower.  Using lavender body wash and lotion is my favorite!  (Young Living sells excellent ones).  I try to relax and soak in the hot water.  After I shower, I spray magnesium spray on the bottom’s of my feet.  

    Afterwards, I apply either Veviter, Lavender, or Cedarwood essential oils to my feet.  Sometimes, if I still feel keyed up, I take a melatonin or two.Woman doing skin care after a bath or shower

    Bible Time

    Fourth,  I lay in bed and read my Bible.  I want God’s Word to be the last thing on my mind.  It’s light’s out at this point.  As I fall asleep I try to set my gaze on Jesus.  I fall asleep thinking of his love for me.

    This is when I pray.  I sure don’t pray long at this time.  Gratitude fills this time as I drift off to sleep, thanking Him for the day behind me.

    A Few Extras

    Other things that give me a great night’s sleep are: my register fan that makes noise, my ceiling fan that keeps me cool, noise lessening/light blocking drapes, and my wonderful comforter that always keeps me the right temperature.  I keep the temperature in our house between 64-68 degrees year round.  Sleeping in cool temperatures helps me greatly.

    As women navigating the complexities of modern life, we can draw strength and inspiration from the timeless stories of restoration found in the Bible. Whether we find ourselves in a season of loss, doubt, or despair, we can take comfort in the knowledge that our God is a God of restoration. Through faith, perseverance, and a willingness to surrender to his plan, we can experience the transformative power of his love in our lives.

    The chapter I love for restoration is Isaiah 61. You can read it HERE. I love to read this chapter aloud, releasing words of life into my atmosphere. I believe God is bringing restoration like this in every area of our lives.

    So, let us embrace the journey of restoration with open hearts and minds, knowing that no matter where we are or what we’ve been through, God is always there, ready to heal, redeem, and restore. May we find solace in the words of Psalm 23:3, “He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.”
